Before you decide
Both plans include a dedicated university mentor, an introductory one-to-one session and guidance reviewed by the mentor.
Support starts with the student’s habits, strengths, goals, interests and current pressures, not a generic productivity template.
Useful changes may include more realistic planning, earlier starts, better questions and calmer recovery after setbacks. Progress is individual and not guaranteed.
A predictable external mentoring rhythm can move home conversations away from repeated reminders and towards agreed, specific support.
Mentors are interviewed and have identity, suitability, references and required Working With Children Check details reviewed before allocation.
Raise the concern early. The arrangement can be reviewed and an appropriate change considered where available. Safety and boundary concerns are escalated immediately.
